What’s the best firmware/setup to enjoy an Ouya experience nowadays? I am using i12bretro v3 but it being 4.1 based is really limiting its ability to play some games but android 7 felt clunky and I didn’t even get to trying to install Ouya Anywhere on it, but I mean besides a Cyanogen mod (I think 4.4 based), what other options are there?
I like my current setup with a heavily modified stock, but I’m finding the aging Android to be limited to the discovery store and humble bundle apk downloads when I could have a proper play store showing me games that still support 5 & 7. If 7 doesn’t have any hardware accelerated drivers then it’s kinda a moot point and avoid at all costs.
Is there a way to use the boot menu to load up a linux kernel from usb or .img on sdcard? I like how there is a solid little chunk of framework for this old system, so would like to see if a mini linux box would provide a side option for media and secure browsing.
I used to run lineage on my ouya too, but kinda felt it just didn’t feel like an ouya but maybe I should’ve tried installing the ouya anywhere. Any reasons anyone would suggest that as an option?
Well, just felt like polishing up an old system to use for a projector and the ouya fit the bill. Glad to see what people have managed to accomplish keeping the system alive, now to check out some old GTA fun…
